The academic book “Dinosaurs, Birds, and Pterosaurs of Korea: A Paradise of Mesozoic Vertebrate” was published by Springer in February 2018. It was written by professor Kim Jeong-yul from Korea National University of Education and professor Huh Min from Jeonnam National University. This is the first academic book about dinosaurs, birds, and pterosaurs of Korea, one of the richest and most interesting regions on earth for the study of vertebrate phenomenology.
The geological environment of the Mesozoic period and fossils became known to a lot of people by various events last few years such as Goseung Dinosaur Expo and International Dinosaur Symposium. However, there have not been any academic books about Mesozoic Vertebrate in Korea. Authors of this book started writing this book to expand knowledge of readers who are interested in Korea’s dinosaurs, birds, and pterosaurs. Also, they wanted to provide deep scientific understanding about the Mesozoic life for readers including people who are going to participate International Geological Congress in Busan, 2024.
Springer is the global publisher that publishes a lot of books, electronic books, and journals about Science, Humanities, Technology, and Medicine. The fact that domestic researcher’s book came out from Springer means that the book is going to be known to the world, which is meaningful. Ryu Hee-chan, the president of KNUE, said, “I feel happy about them publishing the first science academic book about dinosaurs, birds, and pterosaurs of Korea through the world-famous publisher, Springer.”
