Creativity Education Forum was held in the Convergence Science Building on the 24th of September, under the title Mission! Make Desirable Schools. The forum was mainly for teachers, people in educational professions, and pre-service teachers. It was held in order to lead progress in the changes within the classroom by spreading motivation for creativity in education. The Ministry of Education hosted the event and Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity co-supervised it with KNUE.
The forum consisted of two parts. In the first part, Jung Seong-wook, the producer from Educational Broadcasting System who made the famous documentary film “Our teacher has changed,” gave a lecture. He showed his film as a visual aid and insisted that schools should change, saying, “Saving school is the best way to make a healthy society.” In the other part, Kim Hyeon-seop, the CEO of the Instruction Design Institute, talked about focusing on the importance of interaction between teachers and students. He said, “Relationships are important in education and more communication is needed in the classroom.”
Then, the conference session began right after their lectures. Participants and lecturer exchanged opinions about education problems and shared their agonies and experiences. The forum let educators think about how to teach the students in their schools, with one teacher saying, “I thought there will be a special method to bring back the children who keep trying to get out of the school, but now I realized that the solution actually lays in keeping to the basics.”
